First Time VisitorsWe love new visitors! If you are coming for the first time, please be sure to fill out a visitor slip for a special gift. Because God's welcoming spirit is alive in our church, we want to know more about how we can be companions on your journey. We look forward to meeting you!
Where is the church located? We are the large stone church with the red doors on Stockton Street in Hightstown. Click here for directions to our church. Our telephone number is 609-448-0041. What to expect when you visit We want your first visit to our Church to be a warm and welcoming experience, and one way to do that, is to tell you what to expect. What time are the services? Our service time is 10:00 am service. What should I expect when I get inside? As you enter the doors to the Narthex, an Usher will hand you a worship booklet. This booklet contains all the service information. If you aren't sure of something, just watch to see what those around you do. Where do I sit? You can sit anywhere that you feel comfortable. If it's crowded, the Ushers will help you find a seat. If you arrive once the service has begun, an Usher will be happy to assist you to a seat. Membership Information The process of becoming a member of FUMCH begins by filling out a Visitor Card (found in the pew rack). Place the card in the offering plate, and we will be in touch with you in the next few days to let you know more about us. COMMUNION
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. The Lord’s Supper reminds us that Jesus Christ is the host and that we participate at Christ’s invitation. This sacrament is representative of that special meal that Christ ate with his disciples on the night before his crucifixion. Methodist believe in an “open communion” which means that all are welcome to receive the elements. This is different than some other denominations that require membership in order to participate. Our communion liturgy begins with words spoken on Jesus’ behalf inviting “all who love him, who earnestly repent of their sin, and seek to live in peace with one another.” We serve communion in one of two ways. Most times we ask that the people come forward to the altar rail and kneel to receive. Some times we serve communion by intinction, where each person dips their bread in a common cup. A special communion offering is taken each communion Sunday that is used for the missions of the church. Communion is served at both the 9 AM and 10:30 AM services. |
